US Open for Father's Day

Jared is one lucky dad =)  For his first father's day, Sara and I got him tickets to attend the US Open that was held at Merion Country Club which is about 5 miles away from our house (of course it was his idea!).  I was interested in the event as well, so I went with him to one of the practice rounds.  Then he had friends coming in to visit and attend the real rounds with him.  By Sunday, he was exhausted!!

In other news, my friend Audrey had a baby girl named Hannah.  Sara and I went to visit her while we were home this past weekend.  It was so crazy to hold a newborn again.  Hannah barely weighed anything, so Sara seemed like a big baby in comparison!  You can see both babies are either crying or rooting around =)

Also, Jared's cousins Stuart and Fyllis were up visiting from Florida.  We had a pizza dinner at Jerry and Robin's house, so they could meet Sara and see the rest of the family.  It was nice to see them, since we don't get to very often.  Below is a picture of Sara so excited to go to the party (she was giving huge smiles!) and then one of Fyllis and Sara together.

Sara is 2 months old!

I can't believe how fast time is flying, but Sara is already 2 months old!  She has completely changed from her below average size when she was born (in the 3-5%) to an extremely healthy and good sized baby (in the 25%).  Sara is smiley and playful.  She loves to play in her exercise mat and give "hugs".  Jared and I love to sit and watch her kick her legs and punch her arms around.  It is amazing to watch her digest all of the new surroundings.

Twins/Nationals Game in DC

Living in Virginia, my sister's family has become Washington Nationals fans.  My parents are from Minnesota and big Twins fans.  So, back in January, my sister coordinated a trip for my entire family to attend the Twins/Nationals game in DC.  Jared was not thrilled to take Sara to a non-Phillies game, but he was a sport and agreed to go.  We went down to stay at my sister's on Saturday so Sara could hang out with her cousins.  Allison was adament that she was going to hold the baby, and she did a great job!  On Sunday, we went to the game and had beautiful weather.  My dad was unable to attend because he tore his achilles tendon on Saturday.  He was missed!

Meeting Great Grandmother, Idee

Jared's grandmother, Idee, is 89 years old and she still dresses and acts like a rock star.  She is always so put together, coordinating her outfit down to her earrings and hand bag.  Fern and I took her out to lunch this afternoon so she could meet Sara and have a chance to hold her.  We tried to get a good picture, but Sara was not really cooperating.  So instead of one good picture, we took a few action shots below.

May Events!

My friend Ashley came from Mechanicsburg to spend the day with me one Thursday afternoon.  She has an 8 month old, Jackson, so it was great to trade stories and make sure that I am not doing anything terribly wrong =)  She also took me out to Panera (you will notice a trend with this restaurant), so it was great to get out of the house!

We spent Memorial Day with my friends from college.  They traveled in from Indianapolis, Alexandria, and Wilmington to meet Sara and spend the day with us.  It was very fun to spend Sunday evening drinking wine and playing my first game of beer pong in over 10 months! Then, on Monday, we held a brunch at our house.  We had a great time, and I am so glad they were able to make the trip.

(The guys were very resistant to taking this picture, but how cute is it?!?)

My friend Teresa is having a boy at the end of August, so we were joking about a Newman/Driggers wedding in the future.  Below is their first picture together!

My high school friends Kristin, Kristen, and Lauren came to visit last Friday night.  Since they have known me the longest, it was awesome to have them meet Sara and talk about how times have changed since we were 11 (and younger with Kristen).  I totally forgot to take a picture with them (blaming the wine!), but below is a cute one of Sara sitting on Kristin's stomach.  She is due with her baby at the beginning of September.  She is not finding out the sex of the baby, so we'll wait in suspense until September!

Sara has a new friend, Haven!!  Haven Holuba was born on May 23, and we are so excited to get the girls together and have many play dates in the future.  Jared works with her father, Rob, and I have quickly become good friends with her mother, Kristen.  It is great to have a couple that we can get together with and share our new experience.

Aunt Robin came to babysit one afternoon.  Sara had a great time talking up a storm!

Below are some other pictures that I have collected over the past month (I know it seems like a lot but this is just a few - its amazing how many pictures I've taken!)

My First Mother's Day

I was treated to an extra few hours of sleep on Mother's Day and then went downstairs to a snuggly baby, Panera breakfast, and a gift certificate to a local spa. It was a wonderful way to spend the morning!  The bar was set high in preparation for Father's Day.  We went to Matt and Jessy's house in the afternoon for a barbeque.
